What you see here that is missing elsewhere
The full recall chain. Most checks tell you at best that a recall is open. We show you which one, what can happen, how the register rates the danger, and what the repair is. A vehicle can have several recalls of which one is closed and one is not — and then the first one is the wrong one to show.
Defects that keep coming back. One failed item says little; it gets repaired. The same failed item in three consecutive inspection rounds says something was never properly fixed. That conclusion is in no register — it only appears once you group the inspections. Note: a re-test shortly after a failure counts as the same round, otherwise every repaired defect would show up as "recurring".
Honest about what is unknown. No verdict on the odometer is not the same as an approval. That difference is spelled out.
This says nothing about theft
Whether a vehicle is registered as stolen or missing is not released as open data. A clean check is therefore no proof that a car is not stolen. Check that separately before you buy.
Privacy
There is no account, no cookie and no tracker. The plate you enter is not stored and not logged, and your browser queries the service directly.
There is also deliberately no separate web page per plate. Such a page would be indexed by search engines and would create a searchable collection keyed on a licence plate — and a plate can be personal data under the GDPR. This form performs one lookup at your request and leaves nothing behind.
